The Manne Family Teaching Fellowship
summer 2020
Olivia Manne (center) joined the SCFP staff for two Freedom Summers.
This summer, our Freedom Summer Collegiate instructors are supported by the Manne Family Teaching Fellowship, through the generosity of Neal Manne & Nancy McGregor, and their children Benjamin, Elisabeth, and Olivia. The support of the Manne Family has enabled us to recruit an impressive set of alumni teachers and to continue programming through these unprecedented times.
The Manne family has supported the Sunflower County Freedom Project from its very beginning. Two decades ago, they were instrumental in the SCFP purchasing the LEAD Center, where twenty cohorts of Freedom Fellows have learned and led. For Freedom Summers 2008 and 2009, Olivia Manne joined the staff of the SCFP as a summer intern. The entire Manne family is excited to support our Collegiate courses for this summer’s SCFP Freedom Fellows:
“We are delighted to expand our support for the Freedom Project,” said Neal Manne. His wife Nancy McGregor added, “May those teachers help the Sunflower County Freedom Project ‘lift every voice and sing.’”
This summer, our ten Manne Family Teaching Fellows join our program as PhD Candidates and Faculty members from universities around the country:
